Its been a very very long time since Ive played a game of 40K and gotten anything out of it aside from dread. At least two years; reason why I say this is the last game I played where I had an obscenely large amount of fun was when we play a 650 point game. No 10 minutes of shuffling models around, no hour long set up and take down process. Every lost model hurt, and it made the game enjoyable!

I was invited to play in a 40K tourney I declined as.

A> I cant afford the 10 dollar entry fee
B> I no longer have enough points worth of models to play in the 2250 game
C> The guy running it is...sombody I would rather never want to play in any game with.
D> I have a very hard time justifying playing 40K now when I get so much more out of Battletech.

Been trying to drum up support for Killteam, or Necromunda, but so far everybody just laughs and says that those games are not fun to play...why? Because you dont have $1000+ dollars worth of models on the table?

So they raised their prices yet again....what got me was 90 dollars before tax for Black Reach, so after tax you are looking at 100 + dollars for in essence half of an army box....what a freaking rip off! Codex books are now 30 dollars average, so when are their paints going to go up?

I am really glad I am not playing 40K or Fantasy right now. Freaking FAIL GW. Half the guys at the shop are allready talking about never playing again no less.

So....I cant really feel my right hand, my hearing is shot and I am kinda twitchy....totally worth it. We went out shooting today and had a blast (pun unintended) Bob, myself and Ryan all went out, shot some guns, some of us fired stuff we never fired before, enjoyed the day and just excercised our 2nd Ammendment rights as 'mericans!

Painting is going well, stripping some mechs at the moment to create a Shadow Company style group for Battletech, will have an Atlas done up the same as the Madcat MKII I did earlier, complete with a hopefully better done flaming snake on it.

Still working on some reaper minis, mainly Paladins...a whole lotta paladins. Decided to use purple and green as the primary clothing colors, to denote royalty as well as a humbleness lets see if I can pull it off right.

Here is a Madcat MKII from Battletech I painted on saturday at my buddys house. We had an arts and crafts day which we ended by watching Red Cliff (tottally awesome movie. John Wo does 3oo...but since its set in China is like 300'000)

Its hard to see the details of the snake, but its supposed to be a fiery version of Oroborus but Im not that good at doing stuff like that (nor paitent enough)

So I have been working on my Tau ever so slowly, but after I sold off half of them I realized that I wanted to do somthing different with them than most people do in Warhamster. So after a bit of brainstorming I figured that I would do a metagame army. Dark hard to see painted Tau figures, with bright and flashy Kroot and Vespid to draw fire and attention away from the battle smurfs.

However my only issue is trying to fill out my army in the proper way. I hung onto most of the stuff I wanted, I will have to buy several new battlesuits, but for the time being I need to get these guys painted and based. Anyway, the idea involves stealth, and lots of it. Stealth Suits I want to be the lynchpin of my army with a few units of troops for objectives and basic fodder when they need to be.

I only hope the new Tau codex (if its ever released) will upgrade the blue guys with some decent weapons and new minis that are not a pain in the ass to paint.

While a pain in the ass as far as colors on the cloth, the models were suprisingly easy to paint. However I am running out of Badab Black, so I gotta at least get these guys done then I can do highlighting

The heavy isnt finished yet, but getting there, I need to do final highlights and trim the gold, then finish off the jeweling. Easy stuff!

So yah, if you go back you can see some of the pictures Ive taken of my stuff, but 'ere we go, a loosely accurate count of what I did in one year!

Finished my Tau army, about 200 figures give or take, sold off about half of them, stripped the other half and repainted them.

about 300 space marines, six rhinos, three dreadnaughts and other odds and ends.

Warhammer Fantasy Dwarf army, mostly built, primered and with base colors, not really finished, but hey this is my 'take time and enjoy it army'
recently aquired fantasy ork army and undead army as well. All told about 2000 models in varying states of assembly, primer and paint.

House Kamata Battletech cannon(ish) unit, about a understrength company give or take a few minis.

Warmachine Protectorate of Menoth: The Freshmakers! assembled and kinda working on now. about 10 models there. So yah, all I can say is.... good sweet christ my hands man!

Quality Control issues with GW

So over the past few months, when I have been able to buy plastic crap from GW, as well as their codex army books and what have you, I have noticed a hideous problem. The quality we all expect from them, is apparently no longer part of their buisness plan. I dont fault them for wanting to make a profit, I really dont. But when I pay $30 dollars for a codex book, and the damn thing looses its binding after the second week of me owning it, somthing is wrong. And its not just a case of bad luck, every person at our soon to be gone FLGS has bought a GW codex, and had pages fall out of it about a week after they bought said book.

The plastics Ive noticed seem to be off too, mainly in the Space Marine department. The backpacks have a casting flaw, and some Ive bought, or seen have had deformed hands and in once case, a head that was hideously deformed.

So, who else here have noticed this problem in your area?

That aside, I got a battlebox of Orcs, some goblin spider riders and the Orc Warboss kit as an early christmas gift, which rocks. Im allready thinking of color schemes, and its a toss up between red, or yellow. Will post crap as usual when I am able to.

I also got a few friends here some gifts which I intend to post when they are painted/assembled

So halloween was quiet, spent most of the day at a friends house playing DDO, Then went home, painted while watching some movies and general meh crap.

Should have Spikedpunches assault termies stripped soon, then I need to pick up some white primer and I can start painting them. Once I get those done, I will start work on the necromunda stuff he sent me.

Managed to sell off all my spacemarines, while nowhere near the ammount I would have liked to have sold them for, its ok as I did get a little bit of cash for them which helps. May have sombody interested in buying my trashbag o bitz soon which would be nice to get it all away.

in other news painting has been slowly going along. Right now I am asshole deep amongst Yugioh players at the shop and I dont have a wand of hygine.

Other than that, meh. No work yet, so lets hope somthing pops up soon.

I did get my state aid crap finalized, go in for a meeting on the upcoming third. Havnt seen any new movies lately, not even zombieland, but thats ok I will wait till its out on DVD to see it.

Started up an AD&D game on sundays, which lets just say the guys who are playing have the right mentality for the Game Master who is heading this little game. Allready cant wait for tomorrow for the next game.

So I want to talk with you guys about somthing that every tabletop wargamer has had to deal with at one point or another.

So earlier while waiting for the shop to open, one of the other regulars showed up, I was showing him my work, handed him a few of my plastic dwarves, eventully I handed him my slayer, I was in the process of putting a figure away, when I look back, he is picking up my slayer he dropped on the asphalt. Its arm broken off, paint chipped and dented in a few areas. So I am pissed, but its not that bad. So, I have compiled some mini ettiqute procedures.

1. ASK BEFORE YOU TOUCH! Simple enough right? Im guilty of this, but mainly I ask as I am reaching for the mini to oogle and paw at. So no touchie and pickey up with out permission, 'kay?

2. If I hand you a mini to look at, or if I have allowed you to touch said mini, dont treat it like its one of your used fuck socks ok? Myself, and a few others here at the shop have had that nightmare moment when somebody starts banging around the table with said mini, or treating it like a book shelf to balance heavier items on. So generaly if this happens, I belive you should be allowed to punch the offending fucker in the face after a single verbal warning along the lines of "KNOCK IT OFF ASSHOLE!"

3. If sombody asks you how you did your paint job, dont be a dick and make brush stroaking motions while stating you added paint. We are not after your trophy for best painter, if we all learn how to do this better, then it enhances the hobby ok? Usually if sombody asks me, I will tell them how to achive the same thing I did, not too hard of a discussion as my painting style is not that hard to replicate.

4. When building models, and you have a communal hobby tool set that everybody uses, dont fuck up the glue pots kthnx, its a waste of glue, the shop has to pay for it in the long run and you end up with a stalagmite of crap that an arc welder couldnt remove.

So these are my ettiquite tips for handling these little toy soldiers, common sense really, but hey some people are lacking such.

So we started our mordheim campaign last week, I am playing dwarves, while tough they are slow little bastards. This is not all the figures in the warband, I do have a few more. These are just the guys I like how they came out paint scheme wise. The red guy on the lower right is Yeoman Johnson, anybody guess the reference?

This is a warmachine Ogrun Bokur repurposed as an Ogre merc, hence the bigass square base. Keep in mind, most of these are not finished yet,as I need to flock the bases and do final clean up work. Enjoy guys

Not Dead!

Might as well be. Little to no work at all. So I am in essence screwed on the job front as I am stuck in the state of California, and much like rats trying to escape a sinking burning ship most of the work around here has abandoned us.

Aside from that doing ok, started up a Vampire Counts army for Warhammer Fantasy, considering how low the funds are I lucked out getting that play money when I did.

In other sad news, our local Firebase here in town will be changing owners on December, but nobody really feels all to thrilled about the change of owners, mainly as the new owners are a bunch of self serving ponces who are only considered with smelly yughio players.

Not much going on, been painting up my Tau, as I promised. Here they are, I tried to match them as close to the shops terrain as I could, how did I do?

Still a work in progress, but its coming along slowly. The white bases really dont help at all as far as blending in. I should have some shots of my stealth suits, I belive they are better painted to the terrain

So with the release of Planetstrike I picked up the book on Saturday and read to my hearts content, not too bad, some interesting concepts but its still city fight mixed in with apocolypse with a dash of 2nd and 3rd edition thrown in for good measure. I wouldve liked it if it had more stuff for the other armys, the Tau one which is kinda nifty in a limited way....is ok, along with the other races. But while everybody for the most part got one extra option that was army specific, the Imperial Guard or Imperial faction (Imp Guard and Space Marines) got a crap ton, thats fine, but would it have been too hard to like, throw in some extra ones for each race? Anyway, I give it a solid 2 1/2 out of 5, mainly as it is a repackaged cities of death book with terrain and what nots added. However the missions are good, but lets hope they do somthing with it.

If you play a Planet Strike game, dont make it apocolypse sized, tone it down to 1250 points and you may be suprised.

As far as the forts, see the same as above, for once I dunno GW do somthing for the other races...just a little? Some Tau bunkers would be awesome. Mainly as I cant find the right crap you guys have in your wharehouse. Sorry minor divergance there.

I suspect that as the new army books are released they might add in the Planet Strike stuff along with it, but then again, the company we are talking about does tend to ignore our requests regardless of how many people ask for said items.

Overall its not to bad of a release, I just feel a little cheated as far as content goes, but that may lift over time.

Not much else going on really, I redid my tau list at the behest of my buddy Nick and I have come up with an interesting hit and run themed army. Also for the first time in a while I am eagerly awaiting Planet Strike to come down to this shop....if ever. (shipping problems from our local firebases distrubutor) anyway, I have been wanting to do Narative gaming for a while now, however from a few reviews Ive seen, it looks like they repackaged Cities of Death, so who knows.

So after many many years we managed to get some guys who used to play back in the day. The best thing we have found out for those who dont want to spend 45 dollars on a starter gang, plastic Catachans work just as well. So Im getting my Orlock gang up and running again, I am just annoyed I cant find my gang (this is a buddys gang, I am painting up so we can get them painted and done quickly)

So Im thinking on names for the Gang and so far the Red Jacks, or the Red Dogs are high on the list, anybody else who has a name feel free to drop in and leave a comment

Why not to make your painter angry

Im still alive...I think. Still trying to find work, which is still no go at this time, but here is to hoping, as far as my side venture is going....wellll

So I had a guy commision me last month, I didnt like him then, and as time wore on, he got worse and worse. Last week he made some horrible comments towards jews, finishing what the nazi's started and what have you. This last sunday he walks in, sets his Stompa on the table and says he wants his figures back, that he will pay me 30 dollars for assembly of his stompa and we are even. Thats cool, he then says he found sombody who can paint faster and better than I can....thats when I got pissed.

Further proof on why you are not to piss off the guy who is painting your stuff. Keep in mind, I really wouldnt do this unless sombody really deserved it, and even then I had to think about it and if I really wanted to paint this 100 dollar toy up in this way.
I did and to be honest, it felt really liberating.
Anyway, the guy is still a total Douchebag, nobody at the shop really likes him so its all good.

So Im hanging out at my local firebase when three kids come in and hanging out around the place. After a few minutes one of them steals my pack of marlboro reds and all three of them book it, myself and 8 other local guys rush out, two amongst us apparently were rolling 6's for their fleet rolls durring the shooting phase, the rest of us had slow but purposefull and were rolling a respectfull 2 per turn in the movement. We loose sight of two of the kids, the third comes walking by infront of the building saying how he didnt steal anything. We corner him and I place him under citizens arrest.

He is fighting with me while I hold him, so I keep him restrained with the help of the local DM Matt, he's screaming we are hurting him, he cant breath all the while screaming about how we are raping him and what have you. Steve calls up the police and they show up shortly afterwards, we find out that one other was captured and my smokes returned, however the other kid has a warrent out for his arrest, the police officers asked us questions and who was a witness, the rest of the crew raise their hands and state the same thing I did, all three cops are reading this kid the riot act and we head back to the shop where I find out that my pizza was delivered while I was restraining the kid and the shop paid for the food.
So the entire time while we were out there, we were cracking jokes and this kid was crying by the time we left.

Didnt press any charges, his family should hopefully beat his ass for doing what he did.

Did an apocalypse game over the weekend, had much fun and it was suprisingly fast for Apoc,

here we are in turn one, most of my forces made its way towards the center to fortify my position.

here we have a few of my allies about to do an assault rush, my rhino formation in the background prepared to do the charge of the rhino brigade, lost two transports, but they really hit home and formed a good wall of cover for my troops and allies.

Oh crap, a Stompa showed up to throw down against the forces of Chaos and the Imperium of Man....thought he was the biggest thing out there

until the greater deamon of the greater good showed up and laid down the smack down on it.

Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition

So I got to play AD&D 4th Ed earlier, second game no less.

After first playing 1st a little bit back in the day, second edition for most of my childhood all the way up till I hit 18, some 3.0, some 3.5. ... I dont care for most of the changes, it has gone to mainly imagination driven, to a board game mixed in with a MMO. So in this case its a P&PMMORPG if that makes sense.

Earlier tonight I was playing my level 16 Dragonborne Paladin with the Astral Sword Paragon Class. I was able to hit a Dracolich in one hit for 154 points of damage, and I rolled low on the damage dice.

My total review, yes it was fun to pull off that one chain, but .... man it really isnt AD&D any more. I think I wouldve been more happy with it if Wizards of the Coast didnt go towards the more 'lets roll dice' effect for story telling. Nobody at the table really appeared to be attached to their characters. It was just a random set of numbers on a sheet of paper.

Final review, meh, only purchase if you want somthing vastly different than Dungeons and Dragons.

40K crap

So after a week or two of playing smaller 40K games (no more than 850 points to 1000) We did an 18oo point game, and it pretty much fell apart. Took too long to get anything done, a few players left mid game which while made it a more manageable game, kinda killed the big throw down I was wanting to do. So I dont think we will do any more games above the 850 point mark. Its more of a tactical/strategery game rather than I throw this crap out at you untill the law of averages dictate that you will fail.

So I was at the hobby shop yesterday, assembling some of my newly purchased stuff (two new tanks, another Rhino and a Vindicator MK2) While I was building the Vindicator I was sitting in a rental chair that the GXP picked up for a tourney thing, I knew it was flimsy but I had to sit in it a particular way to keep it from breaking.

I am by no means a small guy. So while I was near the end of the build for the first tank, I leaned back to keep my spine from like twisting into a pretzel, mid cut I start to feel the chair buckle, I put the knife down and tried to lean forward to take the weight off the back legs, but it was too late and I fall back and bruised my ego and pride.

*sigh* yeah, stuff like that makes me feel crappy regardless of trying not to let it get to me.

Painting and what have you

So earlier I began to paint up my Landspeeder for my space marines. I decided I want to do a WW2 esq color scheme for all the vehicles in my army. GW however does not make any paints that roughly match Olive Drab. P3 however does have paints in their line (the Rhulic/merc paint line) however they dont quite match that brownish green color I want to use.

However the paints as usual went on great and after a wash of Badab Black, got nice and dark for highlighting purposes.

I'd love to get 26 total land speeders, but costs vs lack of steady work is preventing such a purchase...at this time.

Nothing else to report really. Slowly getting my army painted up and I should have the majority of them painted up and at least with their primary and secondary colors. Then its just a matter of going through and detailing.

Another thing I've noticed is that Ive gotten quite a few comments about my work and that I should enter one of my figs in a Golden Daemon contest. But I dont think my stuff is up to snuff.

So work on my 40K Space Marines is coming along nicely, splurged a bit earlier and picked up a Dreadnought plastic kit from the GXP. So that brings my total up to three 'dreads. I plan on getting them cleaned up once I get my termies finished. Allready got the Sgt. done. No idea what my chapter name is going to be.

Any ideas would be helpful. Pictures to follow soonish.

So Im trying to get my marines done up on the cheap. Right now my big concern is vehicles. Im trying to stick with a wheeled theme for my stuff (I picked up a Gears of War Cerberus remo tank, which is pretty cool in its own right) and I figured that my chapter (name to be decided) will use wheeled stuff. Even the skimmers are going to be wheeled based. So any ideas and links for toys that are closely scaled to 40K, send 'em my way.

Also trying to figure out my chapter symbol, so help on that would be appreciated.

Just busy painting up crap.

So after nearly a year of playing Battletech. I have decided on a cannon faction to play. I choose House Kamata, mainly as I like the color scheme (its brown with goldish red highlights) and has Buddah wielding a sword floating midair. Cool stuff, expect to see that symbol make an apperance here somewhere as well as a userbar.

Fluff wise I found out they got hit hard from the Jihad, so that just gave me some really nifty ideas for changing the paint scheme as my own, yet keeping it cannon. I just have to do some research on Chineese culture

Christmas went well, got some much needed clothes, as well as a gift certificate at a local Big and Tall shop. Good times.

Currently its threatening to snow here, it sure is cold enough as it is right now.

Yeah it happened, while I was at the game shop a local player (who we are now calling Typhoid Mary) got me and three other people that I know of sick. This a special brand of hell for me as its a headcold wrapped up with the inability to sleep. Today I got three hours of sleep, trying out various things to take the edge off and a screwdriver oddly enough works fairly well. At least initially, so Im hoping I can at least shake the inability to sleep part.

Went through and touched up some of my older figures. I think I like this version of a woods scheme.

Anyway, was fairly easy to do, just used the new foundation paints from GW (Calthan Brown I think) and once that was added I lined the brown stripes with black and that was it. May add some decals, but I dont know yet.

My creative drive has taken a nose dive lately, havnt had much energy to paint anything. Which is fine I guess as time off from somthing is allways helpful. Planning a game on Sunday with the Battletech crowd, we are going to do somthing different, Twilight Imperium. Mainly as we all have been pining for a space combat game, but so far most of the ones Ive found lately have been waaaaaaaaay to complicated for my tastes. Even Aerotech, while alot of fun, is just endlessly frustrating due to the ammount of time it takes to partake of in combat. 6 hours and the first heavy battleship dies is too long.

Twilight is fun, but it suffers from the same problem as Aerotech, that and I am not a big fan of the combat system. They did fix that in the Starcraft board game (same company made both games) but its still hard to find people who are interested in playing.

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element,Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. And this is not about my self oddly enough.

So earlier I was at my local gaming shop. Was having fun and throwing down in Battletech. There was a player there who is handicapped and lets call him Wheels (or if your extra heartless, Crazy Legs), now nobody likes to game with him, not due to his physical handicap, but due to his mental handicap. He is around his mid to late 20's (I dont know his exact age, but from what I understand, he is old enough to vote) he however talks shit and behaves like a total douche bag.

A few months ago he made the comment towards another player, stating that he should go back to his trailer, white trash dosnt belong there. Ok, horrible. Then it goes on for a few weeks and he calls another guy at the shop Waldo (while it is in poor sportsmanship, I do agree with that statement of this particular guy, but I dont call him that, not even behind his back) while I was helping out and running an offical tournament for the local Battletech Commando. I told him that if his behavior continues like that, I will write him down as a loss. He shut up and that was that, earlier today however, we were at the last turn due to the shop closing at 6pm, I make a comment about giving the shop owner a dollar to stay open late (that got some laughs) and Crazy Legs pops off "I'll rape your family" and everybody at the table just stopped and stared at him for a bit.... just holy crap.

Lately, and I do apologize about that, been busy trying to find work, ontop of a general meh feeling for the past few weeks, does not help much. Managed to pick up the Monsterpocalypse strat guide, cool stuff, and it came with two maps in the book, which was pretty sweet.

Not much else has been going on, I lucked out and managed to pick up World of Warcraft ...again, most of my friends are still playing the game, and Ive been wanting to get a toon up to 70 at least once. Will try to pick up Burning Crusades as time and money permits.

Will post another game review here eventuly, I plan on doing a review of Anima Tactics.

Monsterapocolypse Repainted Planet Eaters

Repainted these guys earlier, they were as fun to repaint as they were to play. Showed the local shop owner how to play and man these guys were Rockin all game :)

The destructomite at the bottom turned out better once I added more color other than the gold body and red eyes.

Game Review and pictures for Monsterpocolypse

Repainted the sky sentinel, its amazing what a little bit of inking/washing will do for a figure.

Played in the tournament yesterday for Monsterapocolypse, and while I had alot of fun, I ended up getting grumpy/cranky due to not eating most of the day. Didnt help much when I lost.

So far the key to the game is memorization of what each symbol means what, and how can you use that to your advantage. It took us allmost all day to play the game (8 hours between three people) because we were all learning the rules as we went along. As far as tactics, buildings on the map are ment to be used for grabbing power and using them as a target for when you throw other monsters around, if you can suplex a critter into a building great!, if you can do that into a nuclear reactor, oil refinery, or anybuilding that catches on fire, even better! I highly recommend this game, but for a 10 year old, while the game is awesome, there is quite a bit of stuff to memorize, so you had better be paitent with who your teaching the game to after you've played a few maps.

That was another thing, I found that the more we played the game, the more we got into it and the more we were able to exploit the rules to our play styles.

Monsterapocolypse review

GUARD Faction From Monsterpocolypse. Holy crap these figures are awesome for prepainted, however I intend to go back over them, add washes and some minor highlighting to make 'em really pop.

Lords of Cuthul faction. All they really need is some green wash, and purple wash with a bit of highlights, the clear figures are the resulting hyper form. Its the part of the movie where the good guys hit it with the BIG WEPON! (tm) And the critter goes down, just as it looks like the goodguys won, it gets back up, pissed and glowy.

Planet Eaters. These guys look awesome, and will need very little work as far as washing goes. Only problem is trying to figure out how to match the highlighted colors for each figure.

Thats all the figures I own so far. I havnt posted any of the Minions as I dont have nearly enough to show them all off. But they all do look good, there was some bendy problems with the Shadow Sun Syndicate, as well as the Martian Demois-9 figure that was broken when I got it out of the box (I traded it for somthing later on) but so far I give it a 7 out of 10. It would have gotten a higher score if the plastic used was a bit harder to prevent heavy warping that most of Wiz-Blahs figures are want to do. I will post a review of the game play after tommorow when I play again.

Anima Tactics

So I got into another mini war game, at least this time its cheaper than 40K and the rules are really easy to learn.

So after a bit of help from the shop owner at my local firebase, I got four dudes and three are painted, the 4th is going to be a royal pain in the ass to try to figure out what color scheme she will have.

So I figured I would post this here as some of you guys would like to see more ways to do weathering effects. Not done yet, but I managed to get it built, modded and painted to this stage all in about 6 1/2 hours or so.

So Black Reach, the new starter was released. My buddy Mastergunz got the boxed set, kept the marines and gave me the Greenskins. Here is the warboss. I figured I wanted him to look evil, nasty and bad all rolled up in one.

Well kinda. Been busy working on various projects and what have you. Had a job interview earlier so wish me luck on that. Not a whole lot else happening. Eagerly awaiting Monster Apocolypse to be released next month, still doing Battletech and all sorts of general nerdery.

For those who have an X-Box 360, and a few thousand Live Points, I highly recommend getting Castle Crashers. The guys who made Alien Homid did incredibly awesome job yet again with a fantasy-ish beat 'em up game. Lots of unlocks abound and mass fun.

Tank Hangar Terrain

Wrecked end (formally hangar bay number 4) Now just used to house spare parts and partys. I figured I would just post three images as the fourth can be seen fairly easy at the end of this one.

Seperate Hangar bays. 3 did not turn out too well (decal at least) so I figured I should scuff it up.

Made this by using packaging from the new mini combat game Anima Tactics. These two were attached as I screwed up the wrecked end while cutting it apart, so I figured a double hangar with two seperate peices would be pretty cool. Additional material. Sand and Cardboard. Total cost. Nothing as the guys who bought the game packages gave 'em to me.

Axis and Ogres

here is what I was thinking. Each CP token is your manufacturing base production site and ops center rolled into one. each player gets a total of 3 to place. When you purchase units for the campaign they can be deployed at any one of these sites.

As far as costs go Ogres would cost around 100 to produce and take two turns. (use the production notes from Axis and Allies for this)

Infantry STR 1. 5 PN Each Division. 1 Turn

Light tank division 10 PN. 1 Turn.

Heavy Tank division 25 PN. 1 Turn

Super Heavy's 35 PN for a group of 3. 2 Turns.

I know thats not all of it, but its just some ideas. What do you guys think?

part two.

Movement. All counters can move 1 space per turn. (once the rules are hammered out we will add in GEV's and stuff) you can stack them on each area, each counter is What You See is What You Get. Transport will need to be purchased if you want to travel across the sea with anything other than an Ogre (however this only costs a total of 10 for all units that you wish to ship out) Ogres can pretty much go anywhere.

Resources. Each player starts off with 2 MK3's 4 Light Tank counters, 4 Heavy Tank Counters and 2 Super Heavy Counters. Place one infantry counter in each location of your starting empire as well. Each player starts off with 55 Production Notes.

Part three. Combat

Declare which units are engaging whom. In the picture above, france is invaded by a MK3 Ogre. Luckily they have their own Ogre! Move each chit to the edges of the combat zone and play a regular game of Ogre with the corosponding units from the campaign map.

After combat remove the loosing chit from the map and place a faction counter to represent that you now controll that area if you were the attacker. Defenders can blitz into the zone from the attacker for an automatic counter attack, keep in mind, this may leave you open for another attack if you sweep it all in there and loose.

You can move past enemy held zones that have no standing forces there, but if you wish to capture it you must have a unit remaining in that area to hold it at the end of the turn.

Each captured zone nets you production notes equal to the ammount on the board (same as it is in Axis and Allies)

will update as I come up with ideas.

EDIT:

chewed on the thoughts of using Axis and Allies for Ogre campaigns. I think that if you capture a zone, the ammount of resources you have access to is limited by that number +2 number of turns. When its over, the resources for that area have been depleted.

However each victory nets the winner 35% - 50% of the total worth of the defeated party. (so for an Ogre, thats 50 Production Notes worth of BPC and various other equipment that can be reduced to its base components and recycled.)

So I was meaning to make a post yesterday but I got side tracked by painting and sleep.

So I finished up my Ogre Combine CP. Gave it an urban camo scheme, and it looks pretty cool. Pictures will be forthcoming later today. Want to get a few more items finished so I have more to show off. Also finished up some of the clicky-tech battlearmor I picked up before the game died a horrible screaming firey death.

Seriously Wiz-Kids, it seems that any game you touch short of heroclix, dies horribly. Are you just out there to try and dick customers out of their hard earned money? I briefly got into Halo Clix, bendy plastic aside, they looked good, but there was no support, damn near impossible to collect stuff that wasnt the Master Chief, or an elite. But hey, your figs netted me more stuff to use with my Tau army so hats off I guess on that aspect.

Musings on the future and past

After reading up on the war between Russia and Georgia I figured I'd think on possibilities of what could happen in the future (20-40 years or so). Keep in mind, I suffer from insomnia and while I paint I tend to let my mind wander here and there while I get my zen on.

As I see it now, China is spending itself into a recession as it boosts its military power as well as trying to modernize its city's. This will probably lead up to a crash in their economy and devastate them. With how Russia is acting, the Georgian war could be a prelude to what it wishes to do to the surrounding nations. So it could be them testing new battle doctrines and tactics, preparing to come in and attempt to conquer the surrounding territories to further fuel their country, much like Rome in its infancy. One of two things could happen, China, desperate to get itself out of the hole it dug into will ally with Russia with promises of financial backing and support if they go along.

Or they will be attacked in a costly and drawn out ground war which they may end up loosing. Baiting their generals soldiers and citizens with three hots and a cot which would sound much better than what they would be going through with their economy in shambles. In essence history repeating itself over and over again.
